Transparency is important to us. This Affiliate Disclosure explains how Speaks Kerala earns money and how that affects, and does not affect, the content we publish. We want every reader to understand when a link or placement may earn us a commission.
1. How We Keep the Website Free
Speaks Kerala is free for every reader. To cover the costs of research, writing, hosting, security and maintenance, we rely on the following sources of revenue:
- Display advertising: Ads served by Google AdSense and similar networks, which may be personalised based on cookies as described in our Privacy Policy.
- Affiliate links: Some articles about products, apps, gadgets or online services may include links to online stores or service providers. If you click such a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission.
- Sponsored content: Occasionally a brand may pay to publish or promote content. Such content is always clearly labelled.
2. What an Affiliate Link Means for You
An affiliate link is a special tracking link. When you buy something after clicking it, the seller pays us a small share of the sale. You do not pay anything extra; the price is the same whether you use our link or go to the seller directly. The commission helps support our free guides.
3. Government Services Are Never Monetised Through Links
Links to official government portals, such as UIDAI, e-District Kerala, Kerala PSC, DigiLocker, the Voters’ Service Portal or Civil Supplies Kerala, are never affiliate links. We do not receive any payment for directing you to government services, and we do not charge any fee for helping you understand them.
4. Our Editorial Independence
Affiliate relationships and advertisers never decide what we write or how we rate a product. Our recommendations are based on research, official specifications and, where possible, hands-on use, as described in our Review Policy and Editorial Policy. We may mention products for which we have no affiliate relationship, and we may choose not to recommend a product even if an affiliate programme is available for it.
5. How We Label Affiliate and Sponsored Content
- Articles that contain affiliate links include a short note near the top or bottom of the article.
- Sponsored posts are labelled “Sponsored” or “Partnered content”.
- Affiliate and sponsored links are marked with the appropriate rel=”sponsored” or rel=”nofollow” attributes, in line with search engine guidelines.
6. Advertisements
Advertisements shown on our pages are selected automatically by ad networks. We do not personally vet each advertiser, and the presence of an ad is not an endorsement. If you see an ad that seems misleading or inappropriate, please let us know through our Contact Us page so we can report or block it.
7. Compliance
This disclosure is made in the spirit of the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) guidelines for influencer and digital advertising, and similar international guidelines that require clear disclosure of material connections between publishers and brands.
