Skoda decided to reveal the redesigned Octavia on Valentine’s Day. The best-selling vehicle from the Czech brand keeps its sedan (limo) and estate (combo) bodystyles while receiving minor exterior changes and a technology upgrade.Initially, there are only diesel, mildly hybrid, and gasoline powertrain options available; however, a plug-in hybrid is anticipated. In addition, the gasoline-only version of the performance-oriented RS trim is the only one with increased power, aggressive styling, and luxurious equipment.
After the Skoda Octavia’s fourth generation was unveiled in 2019, it was time for a mid-life refresh to put it in line with the more recent iterations of the larger Superb and Kodiaq. The more intricate headlights, which are optionally equipped with LED Matrix “Crystallinium” technology, and the redesigned bumper with its taller side intakes are the main exterior changes.
The rear bumper was also modified by Skoda designers, who also added new LED taillight graphics. In addition, the Sportline trim rides on an optional set of 19-inch wheels, replaces the shiny parts with gloss-black accents, and sits closer to the ground thanks to the sports suspension.
The Octavia’s interior now includes a 10-inch digital instrument cluster as standard equipment and a 10-inch infotainment display that can be upgraded to a larger 13-inch touchscreen at an additional cost. With an emphasis on sustainability, the model offers new options for the interior trim and upholstery materials. The newest ADAS technology has been added to safety equipment, bringing with it sophisticated features like remote park assist, which will soon be available in addition to an AI-powered Chat GPT voice assistant.
More Power And Sharper Looks For The RS
The performance-oriented The sportier bumpers on the Skoda Octavia RS, which have dual exhaust pipes at the back and triangle air intakes at the front, help it stand out from the lower trims. The front bucket seats, the black suede upholstery, the red stitching, the carbon-style trim, the aluminium pedals, and the three-spoke RS steering wheel all contribute to the interior’s sporty vibe.
In contrast to its predecessor, which was offered in plug-in hybrid, diesel, and gasoline configurations, the facelifted RS has just one powertrain option. With 261 horsepower (195 kW / 265 PS), the 2.0-liter turbocharged TSI produces more power than its facelifted VW Golf GTI sibling. With the aid of an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, the seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and the most potent motor ever installed in an Octavia provide power to the front wheels. In comparison to other trims, the sports suspension is 15 mm (0.6 in) lower, and the sports exhaust improves the engine’s sound.
As can be seen in the chart below, non-electrified petrol, mildly hybrid petrol and diesel powertrains are available for the remainder of the Octavia lineup. It is reasonable to predict that the Skoda Octavia iV will come next, with a significantly longer range of zero emissions thanks to an improved plug-in hybrid system. The Octavia G-Tec, which runs on compressed natural gas, may or may not survive the facelift.
