It’s no secret that there are issues with the original Pixel Fold. The fact that Google’s foldable phone was a rumour for so long, along with the company’s choice to withhold an even earlier version, may have contributed to the Fold’s early difficulties in competing with other smartphones. Furthermore, the distinction between Google and the competition has become even more pronounced with the release of phones such as the OnePlus Open and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which offer far more sophisticated user experiences.
Google Pixel Fold 2: When will it launch?
It is rumoured that the Google Pixel Fold 2 will be released later this year. This time around, rumours have it that the business may decide not to reveal it at May’s Google I/O midyear event. Although the Pixel Fold was unveiled at this event the previous year, the second generation Pixel Fold is expected to be released in October along with the Pixel 9 series. However, nothing has yet been formally confirmed. Because Google has the ability to alter the dates, users are advised to treat the information with caution.
Google Pixel Fold 2: Will it come to India?
We may not see the Google Pixel Fold 2 in India. There is no known reason why the first generation left the country. It is therefore unlikely that the next generation of Pixel Fold will make it to India unless the company decides differently about this year’s model.Even though a lot of smartphone companies have debuted their foldable phones in India, not everyone can afford the technology because it is still very expensive. The brands will probably need to wait a few years to lower the cost of foldable technology. The market for foldable phones has recently opened up to companies like Google, and this year should see the release of the second generation. This could be the reason Google is holding back on releasing its foldable in India—foldable phone sales aren’t that great.
Google Pixel Fold 2 leaks: Design, Specs
According to the leaked renders, the new model may resemble the OnePlus Fold in form factor and have a narrower display. Compared to the 5.8-inch cover display of the Pixel Fold, we might see a smaller cover display. We were able to see Google’s proprietary Tensor G4 chipset underneath.Possible features on the device’s back include four camera sensors, an LED flash, and a microphone. A tertiary periscopic telephoto sensor, an unknown quaternary camera, a secondary ultra wide-angle camera, and a primary wide-angle sensor are probably included in the camera unit. If verified, this would represent a noteworthy improvement over the triple rear camera configuration found on the Pixel Fold. Right now, we don’t know the remaining specifics.
The interior display lags far behind the other players in the field. Adding more display layers or even modifying the OnePlus Open’s anti-glare coating could work wonders. Similarly, the first model’s big bezels could be reduced in size, maybe by switching to an under-display camera, and the crease could be lessened to lessen eye strain. The Pixel Fold 2’s specifications are subject to change based on the launch date of the device.
Google’s second-generation foldable device could use the same SoC, the Tensor G3, as seen in the Pixel 8 Pro, but this could come as a bit of a surprise. We could expect an annual refresh. There are rumours that a new model—dubbed “zumapro”—that runs on the as-yet-unannounced Tensor G4 has replaced the prototype that was run on a Tensor G3. When paired with a reported 16GB of storage, which would be a first for the Pixel lineup, that ought to be a sizable upgrade over the original Fold.
