WhatsApp Channels Can Now Share Status Updates, Record Voice Notes, and Take Polls

Numerous new tools are being added to WhatsApp Channels, the broadcasting feature that allows businesses and well-known individuals to update their followers on the messaging app. Voice notes, channel updates to Status, and polling functionality are coming soon to channels. On Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg showcased the new polling feature to his followers on his own WhatsApp channel, where he also announced the new Channel features. Last year, WhatsApp launched the Channels feature, which functions as a tool for one-way broadcasting. With frequent updates from organisations, sports teams, and public personalities, Channels aims to boost usage on the messaging platform owned by Meta.

Mark Zuckerberg declared on Wednesday that voice notes, multiple admins, sharing to status updates and polls, and other updates will be coming to the Channels. The purpose of these updates is to give users additional ways to interact with WhatsApp Channels. He posted a poll on his WhatsApp channel asking for votes on the “best game of all time” along with the statement, “We’re introducing a bunch of new features for WA channels, including voice notes, multiple admins, sharing to status, and polls, which is great because I need help settling a debate.”

Globally, WhatsApp is progressively releasing new features on web, iOS, and Android platforms. Among the new features are:

Audio Updates:Voice Updates, one of the most anticipated features, allows Channel admins to communicate more with their followers by sending voice notes. Voice notes are already exchanged on WhatsApp every day—7 billion, according to the company—and this feature will make voice notes a common form of communication for Channels.

Polls: Channels can now make polls inside of themselves to boost interaction. Channel administrators can now directly access the preferences and opinions of their audience thanks to this feature. In his announcement, Mark Zuckerberg created a poll about the games that people are most interested in playing to showcase this feature. WhatsApp Polls enable users to create succinct questions and provide a variety of response choices, turning viewers from viewers into active participants.

Share to Status: Another way that WhatsApp is bridging the divide between personal connections and Channels is through Share to Status. Spreading the word to their own network, users can easily share interesting updates from their favourite Channels to their WhatsApp Status. By word-of-mouth recommendations, channel creators enjoy organic growth while users stay informed on subjects that interest them.

Multiple Admins: With the release of the Multiple Admins feature, WhatsApp Channels is improving group management. The platform allows users to optimise communication flow within channels, with up to 16 admins allowed. This guarantees the effective distribution of pertinent and timely information, facilitating users’ ability to stay up to date on the most recent advancements.

Concurrently, WhatsApp declared that 500 million people use its new Channels feature every month. Celebrity profiles, including those of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Deverakonda, as well as corporate profiles, include those of the Mumbai Indians, Mercedes F1, and Netflix. With WhatsApp Channels, users can receive critical updates from individuals and organisations in private, separate from their personal conversations. It resembles the broadcast feature on Instagram.
